There is a place in Montana where the white cliffs surround the "belly" of the Missouri River. They look like warriors guarding her from passerby's. Many years ago a friend of mine was canoeing through the river, near Memorial Day, and shot some footage for a video he wanted to do. It was just before someone vandalized what is known as the "eye of the needle," a natural formation of rock that looked like the eye of a needle. The rocks were very much a part of that stretch of river. :-)
Heheheh, you make me smile Beverly. The image in my mind, of the area most familiar to me, belonging to the Missouri is in Montana. The river runs swiftly through large portions of that, the center most predominantly. The soul of the river (in my mind) is the force and direction of the water flow, in this case, it is the portion that is protected by the walls of white cliffs to either side. So the river's center would be it's belly (much like our center is not too far from that)... and the soul is the moving force that makes it come to life.
keep the calminf haikus coming all week; have kids home, just finished a trip out to my mother's with two boys and gerblls. my blood pressure took another dip. thank you!
:-) Thank you Alana, the place I was writing about has some spectacular beauty surrounding the river. It almost feels as though the rocks around her are living guards there to protect her.
Wonderful!!

DeleteEveryone or thing needs a fortress...even a might river! Thank you!
ReplyDeletePerhaps the mighty rivers need them even more... hmmm or they could just grab the culprits and pull them under. hehhe
